Thank you.

Huge thank you to my last customer. They really made my day in two different ways. Fist he paid me $100 more than we had agreed on. What a huge blessing for me and my family. The second way he made my day is he had a friend bring a dresser that they wanted refinished. So that is my next project. The cool thing about that is I didn't have to look far for my next job it came to me. Thank you God for the blessings we receive. I will post pics soon.

YARD SALE GOLD

The desk has been put on hold for a minute. I found this table at a yard sale for 5 bucks. Great deal. This matches a hutch I did for a dear friend a while ago. I am very excited to do this little table. I will do it the same color as the hutch. This table already has a home. I will give it to my friend. So if you know who I am talking about don't tell her. I want to surprise her. I will post finished pic soon.
Ok all done. It turned out great! It matches my post My favorite piece. She is going to love it.

Cream and Black Highlight

Hello my 2 followers! I was brought this furniture by a customer who wasn't too sure what she had in mind as to what she wanted to do with it. She sent me an email of a bedroom set that she liked. I had to get as close as possible to the picture. I have to be honest: I am the king of stain and glazes! Just kidding. But that is my cup of Joe. I am not use to painting furniture with latex paints. I can do it. But, it is a bit of a challenge when the color is cream and the glaze is black. I see all of these talented ladies whip this stuff out like it is nothing. I need to learn a few things I guess. It will be ok because I am a fast learner.

This project has taken almost a month. Working in the garage after I get off of my other job makes for a long day! I have to say I got a little frustrated at times working on this job. Lets just say it was a live and learn project for me. In the end I feel it turned out pretty nice. I hope the customer will be happy.

Classic

This table came to me in pretty bad shape. I had to use citrus strip to remove all of the old paint. It was a pretty BIG process to strip such a little table. It took three applications of citrus strip to remove all the paint!

The customer requested for the original color of stain reapplied. I hit it right on the money. (Yes I am a little proud of this one!) The clear coat was wiped on and turned out beautiful. I love pieces that show the grain and true beauty of the wood. I always think to myself, 'if the wood has beautiful grain why cover it up with a solid paint?' What amazing work, if I do say so myself!

Tip:

Whenever you are dealing with the public, it is wise to be specific on exactly what each customer wants. This will prevent any future problems. Words can mean different things to people. For example, to a customer the word "distress" may mean a sand through on the edges. But, I may think of it as marring the wood with different items to achieve a damaged/aged look. It is very important to be on the same page as the customer you are dealing with. Being clear, and specific will allow you to create the picture your customer is looking for. After all, your goal is to have returning customers. So it is crucial that every customer is a happy customer.

This small end table has both sand through and a "distressed" look. I sold this end table to my wife for $10.00. She got a great deal! LOL!

Favorite Piece

I have to tell you all how this furniture refinishing first started. We went to visit some very dear friends that have become part of our family. We were all talking and Steve asked me if I would be willing to help him out on a project. He said he'd pay me.

I asked, "who needs there legs to be broken?" Just kidding. I told him I would be glad to help and that I would be glad to do it. He asked if I was interested in refinishing this cabinet that he had been working on for about 12 years. You read that right...12 years! I was up for the challenge. He dropped it off and I think it took me two weeks to complete. It is the photo above. Absolute beauty!

I hope this turns out to be a fun experience. This blogging thing looks like a lot of fun. I am going to list all projects I have worked and will be working on. This will help my customers appreciate the work that is being put into refinishing a piece. I want my sons to pick up where I leave off with this beautiful work of refinishing. In my eyes there is no difference between a painter artist or a furniture artist, it is all about the beauty of the piece.
